Dropkick Murphys Miss AC Beer Fest Performance Thinking “AC” Stands For Allston Christmas

This article is part of our partnership series leading up to Atlantic City Beer Festival.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Atlantic City Beer Festival session one headliner Dropkick Murphys accidentally missed their set time after thinking “AC” stood for “Allston Christmas, confused sources confirmed. When the band didn’t show up in time to unload their gear, festival organizers wondered if there was some sort of misunderstanding.

“Dah, we really stepped in it this time,” said lead singer Ken Casey between sips of Boston Lager. “We totally thought the beer fest was in Boston the weekend before Labor Day, not the weekend after Memorial Day in Jersey. I don’t think anyone actually referred to it as ‘Atlantic City Beer Fest’ to us before. Honest mistake. Not gonna lie… a beer fest during Allston Christmas sounds like a pretty damn good idea to me. You move all your shit in, and then you party for a few hours and go curb shopping. Now THAT, we would play!”

Atlantic City Beer Fest organizer Jon Henderson understands the clerical error, but wishes he had someone to replace the headlining band.

“I guess we could just move Jesse Ahern and Dentist’s sets back an hour or so?” said Henderson, already doing damage control. “The crowd won’t be happy, but maybe we can give out stickers, or extend it by a half hour or something to make up for it. If anything, we can just play the Dropkick live stream they did for St. Pady’s Day a couple years ago over the loudspeakers. We got this.”

At press time, the majority of the band was seen shuffling through Packard’s Corner singing “WE’RE SHIPPIN’ DOWN TO JERSEY, WHOA OH OH!!!”
