REPORT: “Red IPA” Neither

PITTSBURGH, PA – A local brewery’s self-branded Red IPA is reportedly isn’t red in color and tastes nothing like an IPA, according to multiple disgusted sources. Patrons who ordered the new “Left on Red IPA” from Blunders Brewing Company’s tap list were left with a bad taste in their mouth.

“What the fuck is this shit?!” demanded Laurent Dixon incredulously. “This looks like swamp water mixed with bong water, and somehow tastes even worse than that. How in hell did they land on calling this a Red IPA? This should have been dumped down the drain like the shit that it is, not put on draft under the “Featured” section. Let’s go to the wine bar across the street… I’m done with beer for the day.”

Blunders Brewing owner Devin Hoffman defends the decision to tap the beer and is excited about the new offering.

“We’re thrilled with how this one came out!” said Hoffman in between swabs of a Covid test. ” We’ve had the idea for this beer for a long time, actually. Our head brewer really knocked this out of the park. We challenged him with the difficult task of making a Red IPA that our customers love, and the majority have nothing but positive things to say! Sure, there have been a few naysayers, but that’s expected when you don’t brew true-to-style all the time like our boundary-pushing beers.”

Beer style expert and cicerone Jeremy Peters tries to shed some light on the clarity and taste issues plaguing the beer.

“Normally, a Red IPA is a sort of hopped up amber ale, trying to marry the two styles,” said Peters, pausing to take a deep sniff of his own fart. “What Blunders has done is thrown convention out the window and basically said ‘to hell with traditional beer style norms’ with this brew. Sure, it smells like my daughter’s dirty diaper, but I’ve smelled beers similar that are delicious! I mean sure, those were sour styles with peaches, but anything is possible in the beer world!”

At press time, Hoffman was overheard talking with his head brewer about perfecting a white stout recipe.
