BROOKLYN, NY – Local man Michael Leffler injured his ankle at the very beginning of Whales-n-Ales Beer Festival by attempting to run to get a pour of a hyped beer, concerned witnesses confirmed. The unathletic festivalgoer is going to miss 4-6 weeks of work, as well as help around the house with his two children, by trying to taste “A Day to End All Eves” by Hype or Drive Brewing.
“Boy, I really messed this one up bad,” said a dejected Leffler, being pushed around the festival in a wheelchair by his friends. “Sure, I’m going to miss out on a lot of work, including overtime, to provide for my family, and my wife is going to kill me, but the worst part is I missed out on getting ADTEAE! By the time the EMT was done with me and they got me ready to go, the keg had kicked. I fucking hate beer festivals.”
Leffler’s physical therapist, Aaron Reinhardt, says this could have been avoided had he done any sort of physical activity whatsoever.
“A very unfortunate injury for Mr. Leffler,” said Aaron Reinhardt, shaking his head. “Michael confirmed that before his tumble, he hadn’t done any meaningful exercise at all in 15 years. Frankly, I’m not even convinced he was running when he fell. It was probably more of a slow, leisurely stroll. Either way, he should be back to normal in about two months, give or take, depending on if he actually follows my instructions for his therapy.”
Festival organizer Sean Naylor hopes Leffler is okay after the incident, and is quick to point out that Whales-n-Ales is not responsible for any liability on the festival grounds.
“Just hope that guy is okay, and more importantly, that he doesn’t sue.” worried Naylor. “It says right there when you buy a ticket, don’t be an asshole and we aren’t liable for any injury caused by you being a dumbass trying to run downhill in grass. We will send him a four pack or something, or give him a discount on next year’s ticket.”
At press time, Leffler was seen arguing that, because he’s handicapped, he should get to go to the front of the line at the Side Project tent.
