Netflix Taps Local Brewery for Two Stand-Up Specials After Comedy Gold of Fake April Fools’ Post

PORTLAND, Or – After getting wind of Laughs Brewing Company’s April Fools gag, Netflix has contacted the brewery about performing multiple stand-up specials to add to their streaming network. The tongue-in-cheek brewery made a social media post that faked out all their followers, proving they have the comedy chops to make it big.

“I never thought this is how I’d get my big break,” said Cody Lueless, Laughs Brewing Company’s founder and creative genius. “Everyone has always told me how funny our beer names are, and they get a chuckle out of our witty engagement with our followers on all the socials. Although I guess I should call them fans at this point? Either way, the obvious next step is getting a tight 60 minute set of jokes ready for taping in two weeks. I’ve got a solid 15 minutes on lactose alone.”

Netflix head of programming Glenn Reenlight says the streaming giant couldn’t pass up a chance to work with a comedy god such as Lueless after seeing what his brain was capable of coming up with for an April Fool’s prank.

“Netflix continues to push the boundaries of comedy with this signing, assuring that we will be the go-to publisher of craft beer related jokes for years to come,” said Reenlight, not realizing that Laughs Brewing only produces approximately 10,000 barrels a year. “Seinfeld, Chappelle, Burr, and now the guy who thought up the idea to pretend to be releasing a beer made with acid rain. You can’t buy access to that type of brain… but we just did.”

Longtime comedian Norm Markmand lamented the fact that, despite no stand-up experience whatsoever, Netflix would commit to such a big contract with a no-name comedian/brewer.

“What the holy hell? My god… I’ve been doing this shit for almost 20 years!” exclaimed Markmand between podcasts. “Netflix only gave me 30 minutes, and that was after I had to release a fuckin’ hour on YouTube for free! This fuckin beer nerd gets two hours? Guess it’s time to start brewin’ beer!”

At press time, Lueless was overheard practicing his joke delivery in the back of the brewhouse.

“What’s the deal with barleywine!? It’s not barley, and it’s not wine! More like BARELYwine, right? Hold for applause.”
