PASADENA, CA – Local liquor store Bottle Capz has started adding inserts with a beer’s RateBeer score to its shelves, amused customers confirmed. The bottle shop’s management announced the change via a post made on it’s official Facebook page
“Attention all you craft heads: it’s finally here!” the adorable post by store manager Ed Mellon reads. “Now you can see the RateBeer score for many of our craft offerings! Stop on over and see how your favorite beer ranks nationally! Goose Island, Golden Road, Ballast Point, you name it, we rate it! Truly a win for the little guy.”
The precious attempt to appeal to the average craft consumer has not gone unnoticed, but has largely fallen on uninterested eyes.
“I appreciate what they’re trying to do, but who is this for exactly?” questioned Tyler Peller, a frequent customer, in a comment on the Facebook post. “Let me guess… all the beers owned by AB InBev are all 5 stars?! All the beer geeks I know are just gonna go to Untappd on their phone to check out any beer they haven’t heard of. So is this for normies that come in and ask if Yuengling made it past the Mississippi yet? I just don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze for Ed.”
RateBeer spokesperson Ray Bucceri lauded the move by the store, claiming his company’s rating system has become industry standard.
“I applaud Bottle Capz for joining more than 3,000 liquor stores nationwide in offering consumers all the information they are looking for in a beer,” Bucceri said while literally swiping entire shelves of non-AB InBev beer to the floor. “Unlike those losers at Beer Advocate and Untappd, RateBeer really has its finger on the pulse of the craft community.”
At press time, a confused Mellon could be seen searching the IPA section of his store looking for a beer named “Juice Is Worth The Squeeze.”
