ASBURY PARK, NJ – Local poser Chester Gillium found himself in quite the predicament when he wore a Hoptrot Brewing shirt to the brewery, confused customers and employees reported.
“Not really sure what he was thinking there,” Gillium’s friend Tara Oliver wondered between sips of a mediocre pale ale. “Multiple people came up to him and ordered drinks or gave him their empty glasses. After it happened a couple times, I could tell he was getting frustrated. Like, has he never seen PCU?”
Gillium himself didn’t see anything wrong with the practice,
“I really don’t see what the big deal is… my Hoptrot shirt was my only clean shirt,” said Gillium, trying to cover the logo by standing with his arms crossed. “Who cares if I wear it to the brewery? There’s more than one way to support your favorite local businesses. People really need to get a life.”
Hoptrot owner Danny Deangeli appreciated Gillium’s brand loyalty, but admitted he doesn’t see his company’s own merch at his establishment often.
“Yeah… it’s always interesting when that happens. I felt bad when I went up to him and asked him to unload the dishwasher and put on some closed-toe shoes, but what do you expect? The turnover around here is so much that I can’t keep track of who is working here or not.” Deangeli said. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go yell at a sales rep.”
Gillium was last seen at the merch counter, asking if there were any plain shirts for sale.
